Discovery Center

Calling all aspiring veterinarians, scientists, and young naturalists! The interactive Discovery Center is made up of various learning stations where children can peer through a microscope lens, try on a pair of butterfly wings, and go nose-to-nose with live animals.

Stations

Zoo Vet Center
Children can conduct check-ups on animal puppets on a real veterinary table complete with microscopes, light tables, radiograph images, and other tools. Scrubs are provided!

Amazing Arthropods
Check out a live crawfish, tarantula, and barn spider at this creepy-crawly learning station. Children can weave their own web and play a classification game.

Young Naturalist
Equipped with bird feeders, compost bins, and binoculars, this station teaches kids how to study wildlife right in their own backyard.

The Scoop on Poop
Otherwise known as “scat” in the Zoo world, poop is an important clue for tracking animals and learning about their ecology. Here, children can match different kinds of scat with the animals that deposit it.
