Discovery Center
Calling all aspiring veterinarians, scientists, and young naturalists! In the hands-on interactive Discovery Center, children will use their imaginations to play-act being a zoo vet, come nose-to-nose with birds and reptiles, and play the frog metamorphosis game. Our first rule is: Have fun!
Discovery Center Stations include:
Zoo Vet Center
Children can conduct check-ups on animal puppets on a real veterinary table complete with microscopes, light tables, radiograph images, and other tools. Scrubs are provided!
Turtles and Tortoises
The Discovery Center is home to three different kinds of turtles and tortoises. Can you find them all?
Young Naturalist Camping Area
Cook food on a "campfire," zip yourself into a camping tent and use field guides to get to know the animals you'd see on a camping trip.
The Scoop on Poop
Otherwise known as “scat” in the Zoo world, poop is an important clue for tracking animals and learning about their ecology. Here, children can match different kinds of scat with the animals that deposit it.
